M.O.M-Arpi

Meet our September M.O.M Arpi!
Arpi lives in Broomall, PA with her husband Grant, baby girl Zara, and cat Jade. Prior to becoming a SAHM, Arpi worked in software development as a scrum master. In addition to being a mommy Arpi enjoys singing in her church choir, and practicing lots of yoga.
Here are some Q & A's from our M.O.M Arpi:
what was the thing that surprised you most when you became a mom?
How easy it became to prioritize my family over anything for myself. I have to constantly remind myself that it's ok to get out to take a yoga class, have a night out, or get a manicure.
what do you wish someone else had told you about parenting so you would be better prepared?
I wish someone would have told me everyone from family, friends, grocery store cashiers, and other random strangers will push their thoughts, beliefs, advice, and opinions on raising or caring for your child. And despite all of that try to keep doing what you're doing, try to avoid confusion or second guessing your gut. The interesting thing as a parent is that you are in control and the decision maker, and whatever you are doing is right no matter what you choose or what anyone says.
what is your biggest accomplishment you are most proud of? (does not have to be about your kids!)
Mommyhood! Becoming a mother makes me feel like I have superpowers. Legit. Being productive, and energetic on almost no sleep, is an art.
what are your must have items in your diaper bag?
A granola bar and water for myself. I can't tell you how many times I leave the house and forget to eat. This is especially important if you are breastfeeding!
if you had a day kid free to do anything you want, what would you do?
A long lazy beach day, filled with several adult beverages!
Any advice for first time moms?
2 things....

1. If you don't have mom friends, try to meet new mommy friends. It's good to have a friend going through everything at the same time. And when you get together it can help baby socialize and make friends!
2. I know its tiring in the beginning but get out of the house, look up library activities, or search for parks and trails nearby. Something as little as going for a walk is great for mommy and baby. It could be a great way to enjoy maternity leave before going back to work or if you're a stay at home mom, it's a great way to begin a daily walk or activity!
